Manny Pacquiao, the legendary eight-division world champion, has hinted at a return to boxing since his last match in 2021, where he suffered a tough loss to Yordenis Ugas. Despite many fans and pundits suggesting he should stay retired, Pacquiao appears eager to get back into the ring.
Recently, Pacquiao has been linked to potential fights against Conor Benn, Conor McGregor, and a possible shot at a vacant welterweight title against Interim Champion Mario Barrios. However, another intriguing opponent has emerged.
In a recent episode of the "3 Knockdown Rule" podcast, veteran promoter Bob Arum mentioned that he had some interesting opponents in mind for his fighter, Teofimo Lopez. Arum revealed that they had seriously considered a match between Lopez and Ryan Garcia, though Garcia’s current issues might make him unavailable. Other potential opponents for Lopez included Devin Haney.

Lopez, a two-weight world champion at just 26, holds the WBA Super-Lightweight belt and is set to face Steve Claggett this month. Arum, now 92, indicated that if Lopez wins, a fight with Pacquiao could be on the cards, especially if Saudi Arabia, known for hosting high-profile boxing matches, provides the financial backing.
“Going up to welterweight, there are several fighters we could match him with. If Manny Pacquiao is available and the Saudis put up the money, Teofimo would be a great opponent,” Arum said.
It seems Pacquiao won't lack options for his next fight if he decides to return, with Saudi Arabia emerging as a likely venue.
