A recent video of UFC light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira visiting Australia has gone viral. Pereira, who was in Melbourne before being called to headline UFC 303 in Las Vegas, took time to visit a Children’s Hospital to meet young cancer patients.
He brought along his world title belts from the 205lb and 185lb divisions. During his visit, one young fan asked Pereira to shave his head due to his recent cancer diagnosis.
This touching moment, captured on camera for Pereira’s YouTube channel, has spread across social media. At the Melbourne Children’s Hospital, Pereira met with several kids, posed for photos, signed autographs, and answered questions.

One fan, who had watched him knock out Israel Adesanya in 2022, asked Pereira if he would shave his head since he was going to lose his hair from treatment. Pereira agreed, and they posed for photos with matching haircuts. The fan shared that Pereira’s story was inspiring and that he had been training in Muay Thai before his diagnosis.
Pereira, moved to tears, expressed his support for the young fan, saying, “I have my two sons. I thank God, it’s hard, man.” The fan reassured Pereira’s team, saying, “I know that I’ll be able to get through it because he got through it.”

“We have moments of joy and sadness, this moment was very difficult for me. I visited the cancer hospital and this boy trained Muay Thai and was prevented from continuing due to cancer.”
