Bronny James started for the Lakers and scored 4 points, grabbed 2 rebounds, and made 2 assists in his NBA Summer League debut. After missing his first three shots, Bronny's first NBA points came on a second-quarter layup, allowing him to relax and play more comfortably.

“The atmosphere was more than I expected,” Bronny said, appreciating the support even in the Bay Area, home to the Golden State Warriors.

Dressed in Lakers gold and wearing oversized headphones, Bronny resembled his famous father, LeBron James, causing some at Chase Center to do a double-take. Bronny, wearing jersey No. 9, missed his initial shots but kept pushing, playing just under 22 minutes as the Lakers lost 108-94 to the Sacramento Kings.

Bronny's first points came on a driving layup before halftime. Although he missed all three of his 3-point attempts and a pair of free throws, he showed glimpses of his potential with solid court awareness.

Drafted by the Lakers with the 55th overall pick from the University of Southern California, Bronny will get more chances to play and grow in the upcoming games. Coach Dane Johnson plans to give him plenty of opportunities to gain experience.

LeBron James, at USA Basketball’s training camp, emphasized the importance of growth over immediate performance. “What he does in the Summer League, it doesn’t matter if he plays well or not. The only thing that matters is him getting better and stacking days,” LeBron said.

Bronny, the oldest son of NBA career scoring leader LeBron James, survived cardiac arrest last July during a workout at USC. Now, he's signed a four-year contract worth $7.9 million. He aims to stay aggressive and confident, learning from his mistakes and building on his successes.
