Jiri Prochazka knows what he must do to reach championship level again after his UFC 303 loss to Alex Pereira.

Prochazka (30-5-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) faced his second defeat to Pereira (11-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) in less than eight months on Saturday. He was stopped in the second round of their light heavyweight title rematch at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, putting him in a tough spot in his division.

It's a difficult situation for any fighter to be 0-2 against the current champion, and this is now Prochazka's reality.

The former titleholder issued a statement after UFC 303, acknowledging that he needs to improve his skills if he wants to reach the top again. If he can't commit to that, he is considering retirement.

"Hello everyone – thank you for all your support," Prochazka said in a statement on Instagram. "Thanks to you, Alex, for the fight. You were better. And only one thing goes on my mind, that I need to evolve to the next level, or don’t fight again. So simple, to be the strongest, this is the way. Thank you. See you in the gym."

Prochazka will likely face a medical suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission after the defeat.

At 31 years old, Prochazka did not elaborate on his future plans, but it's clear he is seriously considering what his loss to Pereira means for his fighting career.
