Conor McGregor has added £1.2 million to his fortune after betting on Nate Diaz to beat Jorge Masvidal in their recent boxing match.

The rivalry between Masvidal and Diaz goes back to their 2019 UFC fight, which ended when Diaz suffered a severe cut, giving Masvidal the win. The unresolved tension led to a rematch five years later, this time in the boxing ring.

Before the match, McGregor, who has fought Diaz twice, publicly supported Diaz and placed a large bet on him.

"I've decided to put $500,000 on Diaz to win tonight's boxing match," McGregor said. "With just hands being used, I can't see Masvidal causing any problems for Nate... $500k gets me back $1,625,000 all in."

Diaz managed to defeat Masvidal by majority decision, securing McGregor's big win. When asked about McGregor's successful bet, Diaz responded, "That's cool, good job for us."

McGregor and Diaz have a long history, with Diaz handing McGregor his first UFC defeat in March 2016 before McGregor won their rematch five months later. This time, Diaz claimed victory, using his relentless punches to outlast Masvidal's powerful strikes.
