Paddy Pimblett has shared that he almost pulled out of his UFC 304 fight due to mental health challenges.
The fighter opened up about his struggles to encourage others to seek help.
Pimblett, set to fight King Green on July 27 at Co-op Live in Manchester, revealed that his coach considered withdrawing him from the fight about five or six weeks ago. "Mentally, I just wasn’t there," Pimblett told Sky Sports.
Despite his struggles, Pimblett's determination kept him in the fight. "You’ve got to stay confident and positive," he said. "Whenever I start feeling negative and get a bit down, that’s when I get depression."
He sought counseling during his tough times, messaging James’ Place for help. He shares his story to inspire others to speak up and get support.
The 29-year-old fighter believes in using his platform to make a difference. "I think anyone in my position, who’s got a couple of followers and a platform, should be doing this," he said.
