UFC heavyweight champion Jon "Bones" Jones is facing two misdemeanor charges after a clash with a drug-testing agent on March 30. The charges are for assault and interference with communications.
Crystal Martinez, a drug-testing agent from Drug Free Sport, claims Jones assaulted her while she was collecting a sample. She says Jones couldn't provide a urine sample and got upset when she suggested a blood test. Martinez alleges that Jones took her cell phone and began recording her, and appeared intoxicated during the incident, even saying that people who come to his house "end up dead."
If convicted, Jones could face up to a year in prison and fines.

Jones addressed the incident on social media, saying the drug testers left his home amicably after the testing session. He claimed frustration with their unprofessional behavior but insisted the encounter ended on friendly terms. Jones also accused the tester of breaching standard protocol and HIPAA laws.
Despite his success in the octagon, Jones has faced numerous issues outside the sport. In September 2021, he was charged with domestic battery and tampering with a police vehicle, though the charges were later dropped. In 2020, he was arrested for DWI and accepted a plea deal, reducing the charges. Jones also failed a drug test in 2016 due to a contaminated supplement and was suspended for a year.
