Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has made it clear he won't be playing in the next FIBA Basketball World Cup. When asked about competing in the tournament after winning gold at the 2024 Summer Olympics, Edwards simply said, "Hell nah."

While Edwards is unsure about his plans for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, he expressed how much fun he had playing in the 2024 Games, calling it the best experience he's had in basketball.

Edwards was a standout for Team USA in the 2023 World Cup, leading the team in scoring with 18.9 points per game, even though the team finished fourth. His strong performance earned him a spot on the Olympic team, where he continued to play well, averaging 12.8 points over six games.

At 23 years old, Edwards is just entering his prime, making him a key player for future Team USA rosters. However, his decision not to play in the 2027 World Cup could pose challenges for USA Basketball, as they may need to build two different teams for the World Cup and the Olympics.

The lack of continuity in the team could be a problem as other countries continue to improve. Edwards' absence may lead to concerns if the U.S. doesn't perform well in the next World Cup.
