The Los Angeles Lakers have placed a new statue of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna (Gigi) outside Crypto.com Arena.

This statue celebrates Kobe's pride in being a "Girl Dad" and the Bryant family's support for women and girls in sports.

The bronze statue shows Kobe and Gigi together. Kobe is kissing Gigi's head while wearing a Philadelphia Eagles beanie and a WNBA hoodie. This moment highlights Kobe's support for Gigi's dreams and women's sports. Vanessa Bryant spoke at the event, sharing how important it was for Kobe to change how people see women's sports.

The statue is near Crypto.com Arena’s 11th Street Entrance. Designed by Karon Davis and made by Rotblatt Amrany Studio, it shows Kobe with his arm around Gigi and angel wings behind them. The area around the statue includes benches and flowers in Lakers' purple and gold colors.

A plaque near the statue honors Gigi as an inspirational icon for girls in sports and Kobe as a proud supporter of women in sports. It also features Kobe's words praising Gigi's talent.

The date of the statue's unveiling, 8/2/24, represents the numbers Kobe (8 and 24) and Gigi (2) wore during their basketball careers. The statue will be open for public viewing starting Saturday, Aug. 3, at 9 a.m. PT.
