Kevin Durant, one of the NBA’s biggest stars, has come up with a special nickname for Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards. Durant calls him the "baby GOAT," which stands for "Greatest of All Time."
The two players have formed a strong bond. Edwards has often said that Durant is his favorite player in NBA history. The two recently faced off in the NBA playoffs, where Edwards and the Timberwolves swept Durant’s team, the Phoenix Suns.
They also played together on Team USA during the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Durant revealed the nickname during a fan event in New York City.

He sees a lot of potential in Edwards, who many believe could become one of the best shooting guards ever. Edwards has a long way to go to reach the level of legends like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Dwyane Wade, but he’s off to a strong start.

Edwards was the first pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and has helped turn around the Timberwolves, who were one of the worst teams in the league before he arrived. Since joining, they’ve made the playoffs three times in four seasons and reached the Western Conference finals last year for the first time since 2004.
"I felt bad a little bit, only because he's my favorite player of all time. I didn't wanna send him home like that."

In the 2023-2024 season, Edwards averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. The Timberwolves have a talented roster, including players like Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley, Karl-Anthony Towns, Naz Reid, and Jaden McDaniels. Many believe they have a real shot at reaching the 2025 NBA Finals.
