The decision to name LeBron James the MVP of the men’s basketball competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics has sparked controversy.

James, who led the Los Angeles Lakers and Team USA to a gold medal, had impressive stats, including leading his team in assists (51) and rebounds (41), and finishing second in scoring to Golden State Warriors' Steph Curry.

Despite James’ strong overall performance, some believe Curry deserved the MVP, especially after his standout performances in the semifinals and the gold medal game.

Curry scored 36 points against Serbia in the semifinals and added 24 points in the final against France.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst revealed that MVP voting began during the semifinals, leading to questions about the fairness of the process.

Fans are questioning why voting was opened so early, suggesting it might have influenced the outcome.

While there is debate over the timing of the voting, many believe James would have still won MVP even if the vote had occurred after the gold medal game.

Here's a look at how Curry and James performed throughout the tournament:

Curry: 89 points, 19 rebounds, 15 assists, shooting splits of 50/48/100

James: 85 points, 41 rebounds, 51 assists, shooting splits of 66/31/73
