Taiwanese Olympic boxer Lin Yu-ting defeated Turkish fighter Esra Yildiz Kahraman on Wednesday night in the 57-kilogram division at the Paris Olympics.

Lin won by unanimous decision, moving on to the gold medal fight. Yildiz earned a bronze medal, as there are no bronze-medal bouts in Olympic boxing.

Yildiz was aggressive during the fight but did not do enough to win over the judges. Lin landed more punches, which the judges noticed.

After the fight, Yildiz made a double "X" gesture with her fingers, appearing to signal that she was a woman with XX chromosomes. This gesture comes amid a gender controversy surrounding Lin.

Lin was disqualified from the 2023 International Boxing Association World Championships for having "XY chromosomes."

However, the International Olympic Committee has stated that Lin is eligible to compete in the women’s division and has discredited the tests used by the IBA.
