Tyrese Haliburton recently achieved a childhood dream by winning a gold medal alongside his idol, LeBron James, at the 2024 Olympics with Team USA.

Haliburton shared a heartwarming post on X (formerly Twitter) showing old photos his mom had sent him, where he wore LeBron jerseys as a kid.

One of the pictures even shows a young Haliburton standing with LeBron, both proudly displaying their Olympic medals.

He also posted a throwback photo of himself wearing a Kevin Durant Team USA jersey, paired with a recent shot of him standing on the court with Durant before a game in Paris.

Haliburton was just three years old when LeBron was drafted as the No. 1 pick in 2003, and ten when Durant first played for Team USA in 2010. Now, he’s played and won with both of these basketball legends.

The U.S. men’s basketball team secured its fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal after overcoming tough challenges from Serbia in the semifinals and France in the final. Although Haliburton didn’t get much playing time, clocking in just 26 minutes across three games, he still contributed with eight points and two assists.

After Team USA’s 98-87 win over France in the gold-medal game, Haliburton made a lighthearted joke about his limited minutes, showing he was just happy to be part of the experience.

As older stars like LeBron, Durant, and Stephen Curry may retire from international play before the 2028 Olympics, younger players like Haliburton could take on bigger roles. At 24 years old, Haliburton was the second-youngest player on the 2024 team, just behind Anthony Edwards, who is 23.

Even if Haliburton doesn’t play in future Olympics, he’ll always have the memories of his time in Paris, standing beside his childhood heroes.
