Conor McGregor, the famous UFC fighter, has decided to step away from his much-anticipated return to the octagon and instead run for President of Ireland in 2025. McGregor, 36, hasn’t fought in over three years, but now he’s turning his focus to politics.

He expressed his frustration with Ireland’s current leadership on social media, calling the politicians “charlatans” and promising to shake up the system. McGregor said he plans to give power back to the working class and might even dissolve the government if necessary.

"As President, I could summon or dissolve the Dáil (Irish Parliament)," McGregor wrote. "The people of Ireland deserve answers from these thieves of the working man, and I’m the only logical choice."

This announcement likely means McGregor’s UFC comeback won’t happen anytime soon. His opponent, Michael Chandler, has yet to comment on the news.

It seems McGregor’s next big fight might not be in the cage, but in the political arena.
