Iranian Hackers Sent Trump Campaign Info To Biden-Linked People

This summer, Iranian hackers stole information from Donald Trump’s campaign and sent it to people connected to Joe Biden’s campaign, according to U.S. law enforcement. Officials from the FBI and other agencies said in late June and early July, emails with this stolen data were sent to people working for Biden.

The stolen material wasn’t used, and there’s no evidence Biden’s team responded to the emails. The hackers’ goal seemed to be creating division and distrust in the election. 

Both Biden’s campaign and Trump’s campaign have reacted to the news, with Trump accusing Biden of involvement, despite no proof. Iran, along with Russia, has been one of the countries trying to interfere in the 2024 U.S. election, according to U.S. officials.

These foreign hackers are attempting to copy tactics used by Russia in the 2016 election. Both Iran and Russia deny any wrongdoing.

Microsoft and other tech companies have also reported that foreign hackers are targeting the campaigns, while some lawmakers worry that social media platforms aren’t doing enough to stop these attacks.
