Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has officially launched his own sneaker brand, called 741. The NBA Finals MVP turned down over $50 million in deals from big sneaker companies so he could have full control over his own brand.

He wanted to make sure he could own and design it the way he wanted. The new sneakers are now available for pre-order at 741's website, and the full launch will happen on October 22, 2024.

Brown says the numbers in 741 have special meaning to him. The number 7 stands for spiritual awakening, 4 for hard work, and 1 for new beginnings. Together, they reflect Brown’s journey of taking a risk and creating something unique.

Brown shared that 741 isn’t just about sneakers. It’s a statement about independence and owning your ideas. His company has four main goals:

1. Make high-quality products that perform well.
2. Change how athletes are involved in brand ownership.
3. Offer affordable prices so everyone can buy.
4. Create job opportunities for people in underrepresented communities.

Turning down $50 million was a big decision, but Brown said it was necessary to build something long-lasting. He was inspired by Kobe Bryant, who was planning to start his own sneaker brand before he passed away. Brown said Kobe taught him to be fearless and think differently.

Brown’s announcement comes after signing one of the biggest contracts in NBA history, making it clear that he’s ready to take on new challenges both on and off the court.
