Mike Shinoda, guitarist of Linkin Park, recently shared his thoughts on the band's new vocalist, Emily Armstrong.

In an interview with BBC Radio 1, he talked about hearing her sing for the first time and how her passion stood out to him.

Armstrong, formerly of the band Dead Sara, caught Shinoda's attention with her song "Weatherman." He said, "The way she sings, the passion is what drives her. It’s not about trying to sound like anyone else."

Shinoda also spoke about how the band is moving forward. He made it clear that this new chapter isn’t about trying to replace Chester Bennington, Linkin Park’s former vocalist who passed away in 2017. "Emily isn’t trying to be Chester," he said. "She’s one hundred percent herself, and that’s why it works."

Linkin Park’s new album is set to release in November. Shinoda hopes fans will see it as a fresh start for the band, not just a repeat of the past.
