Netanyahu Rises In Polls Amid Military Strikes And Political Challenges

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has managed to regain some political support after a difficult year. On October 7, 2023, an attack by Hamas shocked Israel, causing the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust.

Many thought Netanyahu's government wouldn't survive. His Likud party dropped in the polls, and it seemed unlikely he could stay in power.

However, Netanyahu's recent military actions, including airstrikes in Lebanon and assassinations of key leaders in the region, have helped him gain more support. A recent poll shows that his Likud party would win 25 seats in an election today, an improvement from earlier numbers. Netanyahu's popularity is now at 38%, thanks to his aggressive military campaign, which many Israelis see as a strong response to the attacks by Hamas and Hezbollah.

Though some criticize Netanyahu for focusing on political survival, he insists his decisions are for Israel's security. He has even brought a former rival, Gideon Sa’ar, into his government to strengthen his position. With the war against Hezbollah escalating, Netanyahu is working hard to keep his government stable while balancing the challenges of ongoing conflicts.

Despite some euphoria over military successes, like the assassination of Hezbollah's leader Hassan Nasrallah, the mood in Israel remains somber, particularly because over 100 Israeli hostages are still being held by Hamas.
