Patrick Mahomes Reacts To Dak Prescott's Record Contract

Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes has spoken out about the recent contracts in the NFL, especially after Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys became the highest-paid player in the league.

Even though many see Mahomes as the best quarterback in the NFL, he no longer holds the biggest contract. Prescott’s new deal with the Cowboys is worth $240 million over four years, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history.

This move sparked a lot of conversations in the football world, as Mahomes' contract now looks smaller in comparison. But Mahomes isn’t bothered by it. After Prescott’s deal was announced, Mahomes said he supports other quarterbacks getting paid well.

“It’s about pushing the game forward,” Mahomes said during an interview on The Drive. “The NFL is bringing in a lot of money, and I want all players to be able to take care of their families for a long time.”

Mahomes made it clear that his opinion on his own deal hasn’t changed, even with Prescott’s massive contract.

Before Prescott’s new deal, several NFL quarterbacks signed big contracts this offseason. But Mahomes says he’s not worried about where he stands on the list of highest-paid quarterbacks.

In an interview with USA Today in July, Mahomes said, “I think we do a great job of managing my money while keeping a good team around me. It’s all about good communication with the front office, and we’ve done that here.”

Prescott’s new contract, which includes $231 million guaranteed, pays him $60 million a year. That’s much more than Mahomes’ average salary of $45 million a year, even after his deal was restructured in 2023. But Mahomes seems happy with his situation and focused on winning games with the Chiefs.
