Sean O’Malley has officially taken the spotlight in the UFC, surpassing Conor McGregor as the sport’s biggest star.

McGregor, once a two-division champion and one of the UFC’s most famous fighters, hasn’t competed in over three years and has no immediate plans to return to the Octagon.

With McGregor out of the picture, O’Malley has risen to the top. The current bantamweight champion has been active, fighting five times and winning the 135-pound title during McGregor's absence.

Former UFC fighter and current analyst Chael Sonnen recently said, “O’Malley is the biggest star in our sport right now,” on his YouTube channel.

Sonnen also pointed out that McGregor is not even licensed to fight currently, making it clear that O’Malley is now the face of the UFC. Despite the challenges and high expectations, O’Malley seems to thrive under pressure.

Fans will get to see O’Malley in action again soon. He’s set to fight Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306 on September 14 at The Sphere.
