Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce has made it clear to head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes that he wants to play as much as possible this season, despite being close to 35 years old.

As the Chiefs gear up for their 2024 season opener against the Baltimore Ravens, Kelce spoke to the media and addressed concerns about possibly getting less playing time due to his age. He was firm in his response: "I probably wouldn’t listen to them if they did," Kelce said when asked if the team suggested he take it easy.

Kelce, who has helped lead the Chiefs to three Super Bowl wins, turns 35 in October. However, he doesn’t see that as a reason to reduce his workload. He explained that over the years, he has learned to better understand his body and continues to improve with experience.

Earlier this year, during Super Bowl LVIII, Kelce had a heated moment with Reid after being pulled from a play. Kelce made it clear he wanted to stay on the field, which caused some buzz, but both later downplayed the incident.

Now, as the Chiefs chase an incredible third straight Super Bowl title, Kelce is excited for the new season. "I get to play another year of football and prove to ourselves and Chiefs Kingdom that we’re still one of the best," he said.

Entering his 12th NFL season, Kelce remains passionate about the game and grateful for the opportunity to keep playing. He’s ready to give it his all, starting with Week 1 against the Ravens.

The Chiefs will begin their quest for another Super Bowl ring when they face the Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday. The big question is, can Kelce, Mahomes, and Reid lead the team to yet another championship?
