LeBron James missed Thursday's game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns. When asked why LeBron was out, Lakers head coach JJ Redick gave a funny answer that had fans laughing.

The Lakers won the game 128-122, thanks to Anthony Davis and Dalton Knecht, who both scored 35 points. But everyone noticed that LeBron didn’t play at all. When asked about it, Redick joked, saying, "DNP – Old... Taking it out of Pop’s book." He was referencing Gregg Popovich, the San Antonio Spurs coach, who once listed Tim Duncan as “DNP – Old” to rest him back in 2012.

LeBron, who will turn 40 soon, is being rested to keep him fresh for the season, just like how Popovich managed Duncan when he was getting older.

Redick has been careful with LeBron’s playing time during the preseason, limiting his minutes in several games to make sure he stays healthy for the regular season.

The Lakers will play their last preseason game against the Golden State Warriors this Friday. LeBron is expected to sit out again to be ready for the season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves next week. Source: BOLAVIP
