On Oct. 22, Bronny James made NBA history by playing alongside his father, LeBron James, in the Los Angeles Lakers' season opener. It was the first time a father and son played together in the league.
However, basketball legends Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley believe Bronny still needs time to grow. On Inside the NBA, both agreed that Bronny should focus on improving his game.
Before the game, Barkley, 61, spoke about Bronny’s health after his cardiac arrest in 2023. Though Bronny is now healthy, Barkley said he doesn’t think Bronny is ready for the NBA. "He should be in the G League," Barkley said, noting that Bronny's best skill is defense, but he's not yet a solid point or shooting guard.

Bronny's debut was brief, playing just three minutes. He missed two shots but grabbed a rebound. After the game, Shaq, 52, said it was a proud moment for the James family but added that Bronny needs to work hard to earn more playing time. Shaq said, "Now this debut is over. I think he focuses on getting better."
