Young sprinting star Gout Gout, just 16, is making waves in Australia and around the world. Gout, who has already run faster than Usain Bolt's times at his age, recently broke another record that had stood for decades.
At the Under-20 World Championships in August, he set a new record in the 200m race, beating the record set by 15-year-old Bolt in 2002. Now, he has smashed even more records at the All Schools Queensland Championship in Australia. He won both the 100m and 200m races and recorded the fastest 200m time by an Australian in 31 years, clocking 20.29 seconds in the heats.
This time is the fastest by any Australian sprinter since 1993, and it’s also a new record for Queensland. Gout now holds both the under-18 and under-20 records for Australia and Oceania. He went on to win the 200m final with a time of 20.52 seconds, making him the fourth fastest under-18 200m sprinter in history.

Gout is also getting closer to breaking the long-standing Australian national record of 20.06 seconds, set by Peter Norman in 1968.
The teen’s achievements have made 2024 a year to remember. He recently signed a deal with Adidas and took home a silver medal at the Under-20 World Championships in Peru, where he finished just 0.08 seconds behind the winner, Bayanda Walaza from South Africa. Source: Talk Sports
