Angel Reese Hints at Super-Team With Rival Caitlin Clark

In a big surprise, WNBA star Angel Reese shared that she’d like to team up with her rival, Caitlin Clark, someday. Reese, who plays for the Chicago Sky, and Clark, from the Indiana Fever, have already become two of the WNBA’s brightest stars. Their exciting play and on-court rivalry have helped make 2024 a standout year for women’s basketball, filling arenas and breaking records in jersey sales and TV viewers.

Fans first saw the intense competition between these two during the 2023 NCAA championship, when Reese’s LSU team beat Clark’s Iowa. Reese made headlines by celebrating with a finger gesture toward her upcoming championship ring, a moment that went viral. Looking back, Reese says that game “changed my life” and was a turning point for women’s basketball.

In the 2024 WNBA Draft, Clark was chosen first overall, while Reese went seventh. The two faced off four times in their rookie season, with Clark’s Fever winning three of those games. Both players delivered strong performances, bringing excitement each time they played against each other.

Despite their rivalry, Reese now says she’d love to one day play alongside Clark. “Me and Caitlin have been playing against each other since we were kids,” Reese explained, adding that the competition has only made them both better. “And one day, hopefully, we can be teammates.”

Fans quickly reacted online, encouraging the Fever to consider making that dream a reality. If Reese and Clark ever do team up, it would be a major moment in basketball, similar to big-name partnerships like Kevin Durant’s move to the Golden State Warriors or LeBron James forming a super-team in Miami.

For now, it’s just an idea. Both the Fever and Sky are focusing on the upcoming season and building their teams around Clark and Reese. Chicago missed the playoffs last year, and Indiana made it to the first round before being eliminated. Both teams have new coaches and are aiming to improve next season.

Even though they play on different teams, Clark and Reese got a taste of being on the same side in the WNBA All-Star Game. They helped lead Team WNBA to a victory over the U.S. women’s national team. Reese said it was “cool” to play with Clark, hinting that there might be more collaborations in the future, like joining forces at the Olympics in 2028.

In the meantime, Reese is set to compete in a new 3-on-3 league called Unrivaled, which starts in January. This league, featuring WNBA stars, could offer another chance for Reese and Clark to team up, if Clark decides to join. With both players still early in their careers, there’s plenty of time to see if this dream super-team becomes a reality.
